Denis Valerga is a singer / songwriter born in Gibraltar.For more information / contact please go to www.denisvalerga.com. The youngest son of a musical family, Denis was born in Gibraltar on the 2nd of November 1952. His artistic carreer as a guitarist, pianist and singer commenced in 1966, inspired, like so many kids of the era, by The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks, Los Brincos etc... In London, where he lived for 26 years, he formed part of several musical groups. There he also developed his songwriting abillity and his skills as arranger, programmer and producer, collaborating with artists and record companies of importance such as Island Records, EMI and Polydor Records. During . 75 to . 76 he worked in Madrid, recording for Discos Columbia with the producer Manolo De Le Calva of Duo Dinamico fame. In 2006 and 2007 his songs “ Tren De Madrugada “ and “ Amigo Y Amante “ with respective lyrics by John Dawes and Bathsheba Peralta were awarded second prize in “ El Festival De Andalucia “ held in Benalmadena. Also in September 2007 he won in “ The Gibraltar Song Festival “ the first and second prize with his songs “ Marchate! “ and “ Ojala! “ with respective lyrics by John Dawes and Levi Attias. This acomplishment had never before been achieved, in the history of the festival, by any other composer. In August of last year, together with lyricist Bathsheba Peralta, he won 1st prize in “La Candelaria Festival Of Song” in Teneriffe. Over the last few years his songs have been covered by both national and international artists such as Angela Carrasco and Ruth Martinez who coverd “Marchate” in her new album.
